Out of the box, the DIR-one green vis laser was easy to setup and co-witness with red dot. The DD MK18 was already a favorite goto but having the laser dialed in made keeping your head on a swivel practical. Solid performance in daylight easy 50yards. Now, just need to donate a few gallons of blood for IR setup.

I purchased two of the DIRV’s. Iv used several types while I was Active and after I retired I have been searching for a designator that was comparable to what I knew and was experienced with. Now that I’m dealing with Gov restrictions iv found that the cost of purchasing what Iv known is far too high, and all the clones out there leave something to be desired. Then I ran across the DIRV. I watched every review that was out there, and then called 3EIR to ask a few questions. Never did I imagine that I would have the opportunity to speak with one of the Co founder’s. The guys that founded this company are experienced, and connected to resources. They have taken their countless years of erperiance in the field of laser development and manufacturing and combined that with guidance and input from experianced combat veterans. Even after that they have been consistently testing and improving their products and pushing the equipment to opperate above and beyond their competitors and still opperate at the legal boundary set by the Gov.

Once I received the units I found that I was not dissapointed. The DIRV is the lightest and most functional designator unit iv ever used that is attached to a medium ranged firearm. I opperate on a AR 15 platform, with a Elcan Specter DR 1-4. This optic sits low, so things that are top mounted often get in the way. The DIRV does not. In fact when im in 4 power I cannot even see it. When im in 1x it is only visible below the entire reticle. The controlls on the unit are so simple and well placed. It instantly has became my favorite unit.

The unit fantastically bridges the price gap between the pathetic, neutered civilian clones, some dubious pedigree Chinese LASIK machines, and the ultra high priced VCSEL LAMs. However, I count the DIR-V’s performance among those high priced laser units, minus the extra cost.

Being a newer product, though with some iteration already present, I bought the unit end of 2023, after the Arisaka improvements were made.

I did experience some issues with shut-off in recoil and Crane port pickiness. However, once I reached out, I received a call back from David who listened to me further explain the issues I had, and in return disclosed very frankly the quick iteration they have been doing and an exact plan to fix the unit. I RMA’d my unit and, as promised, received it back with all issues addressed within a week, which is honestly insane.

Being a newer adopter can lead to needing to lean on changes, repairs, and fixes, but 3EIR was both extremely professional and responsive to my concerns. I look forward eagerly to future products.
